IP Lists Management is basically an essential method which you can use to review information concerning the blacklisted and whitelisted IP addresses and a very useful management tool.

IP Lists Management tool is available within the Shield's IP Manager module (see the screenshot below).

Note: Before you start using this, make sure that IP Manager module is enabled.

How to use IP Lists Management tool

On how to use this tool, fully depends on your requirements. You just need to click on one of the buttons (options) available. The options available are as follows:

  • Manage Auto Black List
  • Manage White List

Manage Auto Black List option

When the Automatic IP Black List System is set, and the number of transgressions exceeds the specified limit, the unwanted visitors get automatically blocked from accessing the site - their IPs get blacklisted.

Read here on how the transgressions limit works.

Read here on how the Automatic IP Black List System works.

When we want to review or to manage blacklisted IPs, we use IP Lists Management tool - option "Manage Auto Black List". If there are no blacklisted IPs, the list will be empty.

In the Automatic Black List, you will be able to find the following data:

  • Blacklisted IP Address
  • Number of transgressions (your site access attempts)
  • Date/Time of your site last access attempt
  • Action to take (remove the IP you don't want to be blacklisted)

Manage White List

When we want to review or to manage whitelisted IPs, we use the same tool - option "Manage White List". If there are no whitelisted IPs, list will be empty, and you can add them if you want.

In the White List, you will be able to find the following data:

  • Whitelisted IP Address
  • Label
  • Date/Time of the IP being whitelisted
  • Action to take (remove the IP you don't want to be whitelisted, or add a new IP address you want to whitelist)

Note: When adding a label for a new IP address, add anything you want - something you will easily recognize.
